Prof. Phaedra C. Pezzullo (she/her): Welcome to Communicating Care, a podcast of the Just Transition Collaborative at the University of Colorado Boulder where we talk about the ways environmental and climate justice advocacy are motivated by, express, and foster care. I’m the host, Professor Phaedra Pezzullo.

Today, our guest is Her Excellency Professor Judi Wakhungu, currently the ambassador of Kenya to the French Republic, Portugal, Serbia and Holy See.Her Excellency has been a global leader on conservation, waste management, and climate change. She previously was the first female to be appointed as Kenyan Cabinet Secretary for Environment and Natural Resources, during which time, she led bans on rhino horns and plastic bags. Before that, she earned a BS in geology from St Lawrence University in New York, a Master of Science degree in petroleum geology from Acadia University, and a PhD in energy resources management from Pennsylvania State University.
